She comes from České Budějovice, but Šumava, where she used to go with her parents to a cottage, has always felt like home more to her ever since. People used to get together all time time and played and sang and even both her parents played guitar. Both at home and at the cottage several guitars could be found at any time and so there’s no surprise Alice eventually grabbed one of them at the age of six. Although she never attended any music shool, through various Czech traditional songs she ended up playing bluegrass music, which impressed her when she was about 15 years old. Live music could be heard on every corner in České Budějovice at the time, so Alice was meeting with musicians, who taught her songs and chords she didn’t know from her parents. Alice soon felt like trying other music styles, so she started playing with a folk-rock band Radio, Chmelojed and Kocourband. It didn’t take long and Alice was attracted by a little harder music and therefore started learning to play electric guitar. As there was nobody to play rock’n’roll with, Alice focused on her own music, which she has been writing since she was 15. After forming a duo with Luboš Maškara, they were playing their original music in a bluegrass-folk style, performing at various festivals such as Folkova Ruze or Zahrada. They also won a local round of the Porta contest and qualified for a national semi-final. She also met with Jana and Jitka Kubeš, with whom she founded a trio named Ginger. Not only were they performing within the Czech Republic, but they also toured Austria and Switzerland. Alice graduated from Business Academy, Bohemistics in Practice and a follow-up study of Bohemistics at the University of South Bohemia. Before Alice joined the Country Sisters, she worked as an editor at a regional office of the Mladá Fronta newspaper.

| 1) What planet would you like to visit the most? „Sometimes I feel I come from another planet myself, but otherwise I think out planet is pretty cool, so why should I go elsewhere? :-)“ |

| 2) Who were you in your previous life? „I don’t know, but what I do know is that in my next life I want to be a black woman with a beautiful voice. Klara says that with a karma like ours we will only be black earthworms. But who knows, maybe I can still change it.“ |

3) What is the most expensive piece in your wardrobe? „The most important pieces are not the most expensives ones, but the cheapest ones. I am always very happy when I can get something very cheaply. Those are the things I completely wear off.“ |

4) Can you remember your first kiss? „I’d rather not remember. It was terrible, it was wet, in a passage of a block of flats on a rainy day. I was certainly expecting a much better experience!“ |
